APLEC is the context that relates to the annual residents through public call. Through two meetings held at Graner, one at the beginning and one at the end of the year, we propose a space for recognition and celebration to create a community that is connected throughout the year, beyond the periods that creators physically spend in Graner’s space.
In the first meeting of 2024, the resident artists selected through the public call were able to share a body practice with Lautaro Reyes (Graner’s associate artist for 2024-25), and then they began the project presentation time. Each resident decides whether they prefer to present their body of work, the specific project that will be developed at Graner during the year, or the questions they are dealing with in the creation phase they are currently in. Afterwards, the day ended with a relaxed space for informal conversation, and the next day the meeting resumed with another body practice and more project presentations. The Graner team also presented the facility’s work lines, opening spaces for permeable governance and feedback from the residents. The second meeting will take place next November or December 2024, closing the year.
Participants in the first Aplec 24 meeting: Lautaro Reyes, Mireia de Querol and Ursa Sekirnik, Pol Jiménez, Poliana Lima, Natalia Fernandes, Elena Zanzu, Chachi, Ivan Cascon, Inka Romero, Blanca Tolsá, Soren Evinson.
