Mar García and Javi Soler will offer an open showcase of their piece “Caribe Mix ’23” before its premiere. They dedicate their research to the staging of their artistic specialties: sound and movement, as well as the relationship between both disciplines, traversing or, better said, strolling along the line that separates them, finding points of connection through stage action and the creative process.
With “Caribe Mix ’23”, we dive directly into the integration of mainstream concepts within a stage piece, motivated by the forcibly canonical musical themes of this type of culture and our frustrated dream of representing a pop star since childhood. Beyond giving scenic value to a musical style that is rarely found in this creation context, our intention is to work with the set of a music video shoot as a nexus of connection between sound, movement, and image, exploring the concepts of promotion, dissemination, and relationship with the viewer characteristic of this format. – Mar and Javi.
