Elena Zanzu

Elena Zanzu is a researcher, performer, author, playwright, and curator. They are interested in extreme practices and research around the body, gender, ethics, care, negotiation, and research methodologies. They have been part of the research project Circus Dialogues (continued) at Kask University in Belgium and have taught in the gender master’s program at UAB. They curate various events, especially around gender and dramaturgy. They write and accompany projects. Their solo piece EZ, premiered at Mercat de les Flors in 2022 and awarded by the European platform Circusnext, explores power dynamics between artist and audience and the negotiation of consent. With the Hyp_NO Project, a research project on the manipulation of perception, Elena Zanzu was an artist-in-residence at El Graner in 2024 in the research category.

Residency Project

Hyp_NO Project is a research around techniques of trance generation, manipulation of perception, illusion and extreme practices of (psycho)somatic manipulation. Putting care and dialogue at the centre, this research explores perception as a generator of physical, emotional and mental movement. What needs to happen to generate movement?
