Yurdance

Yurdance is a company created by Míriam Aguilera and Rita Noutel in 2014 in Barcelona. From the beginning, we felt the need to claim a real place in the professional field of the performing arts as two women with disabilities. On one hand, we question the place that society determines for our collective, and on the other hand, we create a unique/hybrid language based on our personal, social, and artistic experiences. We have participated in international coproductions and presented our pieces at various festivals. Our first piece, Cycamen, was awarded the second prize for best choreography and performance at the Escena Mobile Festival (2018).

Residency project

In vacuo is an artistic creation in which two performers share experiences about the various possibilities of experiencing emptiness, constructing the narrative in the form of dance-theater. The audience accompanies the performers in an unoccupied space, an echo that remains after an absence. An absence that allows something to manifest through it. Could this be the perception of space and the present, a way to occupy places, fill voids, experience them, and transmute them? Two dancers move in an empty, infinite space where everything appears, happens, fluctuates, disappears, and returns.

The team for In vacuo includes: Míriam Aguilera, Rita Noutel, Jordi Cortés, Marina Cardona, Jordi Agut, Argos, Cristina Eugen, Jesús Garcia Pastor, Marisa Palotes, Joan Gastó, Jorge da Rocha, and Núria. Residencies during the creation process: Centre Cívic Sagrada Família, Roca Umbert Fàbrica de les Arts, Graner, and L’Estruch Fàbrica de creació d’arts en viu. Premiere in November 2024 at the Mercat de les Flors, in collaboration with La Caldera de les Corts and the Centre Cívic Barceloneta.
