Camping Pantin / Île-de-France is a festival and an international platform of the CND (Centre national de la danse) featuring workshops and performances, offering a unique experience of encounters with artists from the international choreographic scene. Camping is an artistic space where all experiences of dance, theatre, performance, and visual arts can find expression. It is aimed at everyone involved in dance and the arts, whether students, teachers, performers, choreographers, or researchers, and also welcomes a wide audience of amateurs and spectators.
The 7th edition of Camping featured more than 34 workshops — in Pantin and Île-de-France at numerous associated structures, and in Lyon at the SUBS — for 700 participants, including 300 students from 28 art schools worldwide. It also included a dozen performances, conferences, and parties: an international event that has become unmissable, with no equivalent on the French scene. Camping 2022 was conceived with the collaboration of Gisèle Vienne, an associate artist at the CND.
Some of the “campers” participating in the workshops were able to join thanks to the support of the Consulate General of France in Chicago, DacMartinique, Graner Center for the Creation of Dance and Live Arts, Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, Fonds de dotation Porosus, Institut français of Chile, Senegal, and Serbia, Odia Normandie, Onda Office national de diffusion artistique, Mercat de les Flors: Casa de la Dansa, ProHelvetia, ONASSIS STEGI – Outward Turn Programme, Teatro Municipal do Porto, Théâtre Sevelin 36, Trois C-L. Centre de création chorégraphique luxembourgeois, and agence WBT/D.
In its 2022 edition, Camping began a dialogue with Mercat de les Flors-Graner to encourage the participation of invited artists in the various workshops of the program. Thus, in the 2022 edition, Mercat de les Flors-Graner invited four young choreographers to participate in Camping, in dialogue with the CND. Blanca Tolsà, Júlia Godino, Vera Palomino, and Maria Fernanda Soberon shared the Camping experience in Paris from June 13 to 24. It was the first time that Mercat de les Flors – Graner supported Camping and selected artists to participate, as part of a commitment to support and engage with contexts of knowledge transmission and artistic exchange as enriching as this. The four artists were selected through an invitation letter.
In addition to the group of “campers” selected in dialogue with different international structures linked to dance and movement, Camping offers places to participate in the workshops through registration.
