Our choreographic adventure centers around the theme of dreams. Dreams in Movement proposes a first-person approach to the world of live arts, inviting young people to explore the dream world by giving voice and movement to their aspirations, desires, and concerns. The objective is to provide a space for creation and reflection, where each participant can translate their dreams into theatrical language, developing not only technical skills but also self-awareness and expression. Dance, therefore, becomes a means for constructing personal and collective narratives while fostering the expansion of our imagination.
João Lima: “After my initial training as an actor, I studied contemporary dance and later philosophy. I attended the Choreographic Research and Creation Course at Fórum Dança, the ESSAIS training at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Angers, and the University of Barcelona. My career moves between creation and pedagogy, thus combining practice with reflection. As a performer, I have collaborated with artists such as Cecilia Colacrai, AzkonaToloza, Marcela Levi, and Lucía Russo, among others. As a teacher, I have taught courses in Latin America and Europe at institutions such as the Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, Graner, Area Dansa, Temps d’Art, Cruzada de Ação Social, and Penitenciaria Femenina do Bom Pastor, among others. My works have been presented in contexts such as the Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon), Festival 100 dessus-dessous (Paris), Teatre Sérgio Cardoso (Rio de Janeiro), Mostra Itaú Rumos Dança (São Paulo), Plataforma Lavardén (Rosario), Sala Hiroshima, Antic Teatre, La Caldera, Dansa Metropolitana, and Mercat dels Flors (Barcelona).”
João Lima will present Dreams in Movement weekly at Montjuïc Secondary School (3rd ESO), accompanied by teacher Anna Tomàs, during the 2024-25 academic year.
The educational program of Graner is part of the Caixa d’Eines (Toolbox) program, promoted by the Pla de Barris de Barcelona, which involves introducing artistic practices into the school curriculum with the aim of reducing inequalities between the neighborhoods of the city. The mediation by Graner is carried out by Mireia de Querol.
