At Graner, we implement a program of cross residencies to generate new dialogues and channels of exchange for artists at a local, national, and international level, always with close support from the various centers involved. International residencies are essential to our line of work focused on mobility and support for creation. Furthermore, they allow for the establishment of sustainable and deep relationships with international facilities with which they are conceived, ultimately resonating in other programs, knowledge transmission, and the positioning and recognition of Graner abroad.
The relationship established with each international center with which Graner collaborates involves the selection of artists and an immersion of their project and practice within the context that will host them, making it enriching for both the artist and the local context that receives them. For each artist or collective in residence at Mercat de les Flors-Graner, an open dialogue is established to respond to the needs of each project and propose new possibilities for expansion and professional growth, always considering the current stage of the resident artists and the projects under development. This is why some artists are proposed to participate in cross-residency programs.
In 2024, we have established different bridges between international spaces, opening new avenues of connection and strengthening existing ones. Specifically, it has been the fourth consecutive year that we have established cross residencies with Briqueterie CDCN Val-de-Marne (Paris), with the residencies of Lautaro Reyes, an artist associated with Graner 2024-25, and Bryana Fritz (an artist supported by the French center). Additionally, we are collaborating again with CAMPUS PCS (Porto), with whom we have arranged a cross residency with artists Janet Novás (associated artist at Graner 2022-23) and Carminda Soares & Maria R Soares (Portuguese artists initiating a new project with CAMPUS).
- Lautaro Reyes with the project Waves (October 28 – November 8, 2024)
- Bryana Fritz with the project Resurrection (December 2-15, 2024)
- Carminda Soares and Maria R Soares with the project Bright Horses (October 21 – November 3, 2024)
- Janet Novás with the project She Night (September 2-9, 2024)
The cross residencies with Briqueterie CDCN Val-de-Marne (Paris) and CAMPUS PCS (Porto) have been carried out with the support of the Institut Ramon Llull within the framework of its program for supporting international residencies in the fields of visual arts, performing arts, film, music, design, and architecture.
