From March 5th to 8th, 2017, the management team of the NAVE space in Chile held a residency at Graner, which allowed us to engage in dialogue, share, and debate on the relationship between creators and creation centers, potential working models in the field of artist support, art and community, and other topics of interest. A residency of this type is very enriching as it challenges the Graner team itself and allows us to reflect on our own functioning through dialogue with NAVE. The residency included working sessions with different profiles linked to Graner (the team itself, resident creators, technical team, and technical professionals associated with projects developed during technical residencies at Graner, visits to other city spaces, and internal work by the NAVE team: Jonathan Inosztroza, Consuelo Laclaustra, Carmina Infante, Angie Vial, Javiera Peón-Veiga, and María José Cifuentes). As part of our dialogue with NAVE, in March we hosted the artists Matilde Amigo and Loreto Caviedes, linked to the Chilean structure, in residence.
The residency was supported by: Unidad de Asuntos Internacionales and Área Danza of the National Council of Culture and the Arts, Dirección de Asuntos Culturales of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Chilean Embassy in France, and the Chilean National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO.
Thus, during 2017, the NAVE team from Santiago de Chile and Graner shared their dynamics and operations (technical, administrative, and curatorial) and carried out temporary exchanges between their management teams to share practices in real time.
This relationship led to the incorporation of a person into our production team during the SÂLMON<18 Festival to share knowledge and practices and take on part of the curation of SÂLMON<, specifically in the construction of the Chilean focus presented at the 6th edition of the festival. Artists involved in the Nave-Graner-Sâlmon 2018 collaboration: Javiera Peón-Veiga and María Siebald.
With the support of: AC/E and the Internationalization Program of Creation Factories (ICUB).
