Modul-dance was a multiyear cooperation project (2010-2014) with the participation of 20 European dance houses from 16 countries. Its goal was to support the development, mobility, and exchange of dance artists. In February 2010, Mercat de les Flors, a member of the European Dancehouse Network (EDN), was selected by the Culture Program of the European Commission’s Education, Audiovisual, and Culture Executive Agency to lead the ambitious modul-dance project for four years, from June 2010 to December 2014. During this leadership period, Graner served as a host space for different contexts linked to the project. The project aimed to support 50 young choreographers and promote the mobility of around 300 artists across Europe. Through the programming of the dance houses involved and the various types of exchanges carried out (conferences, idea labs, research time, residencies, co-productions, performances), modul-dance promoted the diversity of artistic approaches, the emergence of new forms and new writings, as well as the mobility of companies, creators, and performances.
After three selections (2010, 2011, and 2012), the project hosted a community of 52 European artists. It provided a framework for them to create and present their work to different audiences, bringing together various proposals, aesthetics, and sensitivities under one umbrella. The artists developed an artistic piece in Europe following a 4-module itinerary that consisted of research, residency, production, and presentation.
