Estampa

Estampa is an artistic collective of programmers, filmmakers, and researchers based in Barcelona. Our practice is based on a critical and archaeological approach to audiovisual and digital technologies, with a particular interest in archives and experimental audiovisual media. Since 2017, one of our main lines of work has been researching the uses and ideologies of AI. This interest began with the project, programmatically titled, The Bad Student. Critical Pedagogy for Artificial Intelligences, which has since been followed by more than twenty investigations, publications, installations, performances, or audiovisual pieces.

Residency project

Dispersing the Spectra is a project about light and vision machines, presented in the form of a performative lecture. The performance explores optical phenomena and reflects on ways of seeing, intertwining with the history of technology and its role in different ideological contexts. Various projection and image creation techniques will be used, combining simple analog materials—such as lenses or mirrors—with digital technologies, including computer vision. A key aspect of the project is the use of a particular and specific material: dichroic glass, which has the property of splitting light, allowing certain wavelengths to pass through while reflecting others. The exploration of this material and its potential on stage is one of the cornerstones of the residency at Graner.
