‘Fantastic Futures – a beginning’ workshop with Aleksandar Georgiev

We have invited Aleksandar Georgiev – Ace to lead a four-day workshop at Graner to share his methodology and practice with the local body and movement community. The laboratory is open to anyone with some physical knowledge and experience in dance (not specifically for professionals). It welcomes people from different fields and artistic languages who are interested in working with the body and its performativity. At the same time, it takes queer practice as a starting point, but it is not limited to people who identify as queer.

FANTASTIC FUTURES – a beginning invites participants to explore tenderness, slowness, retro-performativity, and anal politics, not as rigid practices but as political notions from which performative tools emerge. Over the past seven years, I have developed a practice centered on grace, comfort, and the pleasure of the moving body, especially in relation to being observed. This research unfolds as a proposal of radical softness and tenderness, understood as active forms of resistance, while emphasizing celebration, drama, and affect through a slow tempo. The exploration continues with tools for co-thinking, co-dreaming, and co-imagining, filling the space with empowerment practices rooted in softness and conceiving choreography as a site of values, imaginaries, and possible futures in coexistence.

The main working language of the workshop will be English and, partly, Spanish. A high level of English is not required, and if translation is needed, we will support each other.
