Pere Seda
I am Pere Seda, and I have been connected to traditional dance since the age of 3 with the Esbart Maragall in Barcelona. At 22, I graduated in Contemporary Dance at the Professional Dance Conservatory of the Institut del Teatre. I have developed my professional career as a dancer in companies and projects, most notably the award-winning Oblivion by Silvia Batet’s company. As a choreographer, I began my path in 2019 with various projects such as NUeS, premiered at the ÉsDansa festival, always with a focus on the roots.L’Esbord is a space from which to open a professional path of research and exploration of Catalan traditional dance. From the legacy of the esbarts towards a new perspective on the roots: deviated, unproductive, sterile, and bastard. Without transmission, yet equally necessary. Traditional dance without a reproductive function. The productions of L’Esbord are L’Hereu Riera, premiered at the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa 2022, AUTOODI premiered in July 2023, and Folk as Queer in 2024 at the Obrador d’Arrel of the Fira Mediterrània de Manresa.
