LOBO is a contemporary interpretation rooted in the Renaissance polyphony of De lamentatione Ieremiæ Prophetæ (1602) by Alonso Lobo. Drawing on this vocal composition—originally sung in darkness during Easter—Aurora Bauzà and Pere Jou create a scenic and sensory landscape where six bodies move, sing, appear and vanish. No words, only voice. No text, only light. The piece unfolds as a choreographic and musical exploration of longing and lament, using the interplay of voice, movement and light to reveal what remains unspoken between presence and absence, between the individual and the collective.
LOBO can be viewed as an exercise in meditation on the nature of time: its layering, its resistance, its fragility. Each gesture, each breath, each note lingers as the trace of something ancient and fleeting. Here time is not linear; it folds, repeats and transforms. Through this temporality, LOBO invites the audience into a suspended space where identities shift and dissolve, where memory and anticipation coexist, and where the unknown other is always present—reflected or reflecting.
