Lucía Jaén

Lucía Jaén is a dancer and choreographer who explores the language and techniques of contemporary dance, understood as a living and performative art form. Her artistic interests focus on the poetic power of performance-making and its sociopolitical connections. Since 2025, she has been leading projecte normal, together with a team of seven collaborating artists who reflect on how to transform the conflicts that normativity generates for them.

In recent years, she has worked with Itxaso Corral, Martha Luisa Hernández and Ángela Peris (the Corriente Continua programme); Taller Placer (Vicente Arlandis and Paula Miralles); Quim Bigas; Julia Zac; Andrea Quintana (the Cruzadas programme); Claudia Pages Rabal; Otobong Nkanga; Tiziana Fracchiolla; and Sparrow Dance Company. In 2023, she completed Articulacions, an artistic studies programme organised by IVAM-UV-UPV, and in 2020, she graduated from the MFA in Dance and Participation at The Danish National School of Performing Arts (DDSKS).

projecte normal (2026) is about thinking horizontally, orienting and disorienting ideas, engaging the body, looking from below, from above, from an angle… These are the practices that Lucía Jaén and Víctor Colmenero are exploring during their creative residency at Graner in Barcelona. That, or perhaps a communal dream, maybe a sensory stretch to respond to a space that touches us (borrowing Marie Bardet’s words from M/e toca).
