Anna Calsina

Anna Calsina studied contemporary dance at the Institut del Teatre. In 2008, she danced for Roberto Olivan in Kiosco das Almas Perdidas, in 2009 for Bruno Caverna in Mindscaping, and for Carlos Pez in Object Choreography. From 2009, she began a long-term collaboration with Lisi Estaras, The Ballets C of the B, performing in various creations such as Bolero, Caracol, Primero, and more recently, Monkey Mind. Since 2015, she has collaborated with Lali Ayguadé. From 2011, she ventured into circus and participated in the creation of Les Fuyantes by the company The Things of Nothing and La Machine de Jeu by Camille Boitel. In 2012, she performed with James Thierrée in Tabac Rouge. As a choreographer, she debuted in 2010 with Ikvot, a piece by Rogelio Rivel Circus. Her passion for creation was further confirmed in 2014 when she began a choreographic research project on sand with Sabina Scarlat. The result of this collaboration was presented at the Théâtre de la Balsamine in 2017 under the title Uniforme, a piece that establishes an immediate dialogue with a choreographic material of falls and decompositions, alongside the evolution of a sandcastle set, itself ultimately destroyed. Her interest in blending disciplines often leads her to create works for contexts beyond traditional stage settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary artists. In 2016, she co-founded Objectif Pluton, a collective composed of musicians and dancers, together with Quentin Manfroy (flutist) and Benoit Armange (dancer and circus artist).

OBJECTIF PLUTON (2016) is about two human beings, in an empty space, engage in cruel and joyful games. It is in their nature to play, and so they play. Their bodies are moved more than they move; will has deserted this low-gravity space. Yet the remnants of the past, mental images, and gestures of a lost life traverse these mechanical souls in motion, swallowed by a hypnotic present. By playing at being alive, the body becomes the place where, like ruins, the gestures of the past emerge.
