David Bestué i Marc Vives

David Bestué and Marc Vives worked as a duo from 2002 to 2012 under the name Bestué-Vives. The outcome of their work is primarily presented as performances in which they developed a system for approaching different realities, ranging from the most intimate (Acciones en Casa, Acciones en el Cuerpo), through the social environment (Acciones en Mataró), to macro-structural levels (Acciones en el Universo). In these performances, they engage with various themes drawn from recent art history, focused on the 20th and 21st centuries, with references close to conceptual art, Situationism, and Dadaism, to which they add concepts from their own imaginative framework.

David Bestué and Marc Vives propose a workshop centered on the concept of “limit,” with the aim of finding points of convergence between different disciplines. This leads them to pose a series of questions about where contemporary artistic practice should take place when there is a tendency to coexist across multiple contexts. And, on the other hand, can we still expand these “limits”? What directions should we take? Can we go further in pushing the boundaries of morality or reality (ethics being akin to morality), or has this become something anachronistic?
