Colectivo Co-inspirantes

Co-Inspirantes is a group from Chile dedicated to theoretical-practical experimentation regarding performance arts from an interdisciplinary perspective. They came together in the year 2015 with a group of collaborators from the fields of dance, theatre, philosophy and literature. As a group, they are interested in investigating and prioritising the process of creation over its result. Since then, they have been working on the creation of the CENIT piece, research on which began in August 2015. They are currently developing our second performance creation titled If I can’t dance, your revolution doesn’t interest me. The group is directed by themselves, Loreto Caviedes (choreographer and performer) and Camila Rojas (director and performer). They are both interested in combining different languages, creative performance devices from an interdisciplinary perspective, problematising the statute of the body on stage.

If I can’t dance, your revolution doesn’t interest me (2019) their aim is to interpret the iconic phrase by Emma Goldman (1869-1940) which gives the title of the piece through an interactive mise-en-scene. What interests them about this phrase, which is so powerful it became a slogan, is that it is still valid today. The title brings two apparently disparate notions together: dance and revolution. The key questions are: Which relationships can be established between the notions of dance and revolution? How can we create a revolution of bodies in movement? Can revolution be considered not only as a desire for transformation, but also as a desire for a pleasurable experience?
