Alina Folini

My name is LENIO ALINA FOLINI (they/he). I am an artist, performer, and choreographer. I engage in various interconnected practices: choreography, dance, research, writing, and curatorship. I am a trans non-binary person born in Argentina, who has been navigating, fostering, and caring for Latin American performance art networks since 2011. I am currently based between Lisbon and Amsterdam, in migratory transit, connecting worlds. My work questions the visual system—which has been appropriated by colonial and binary modes of perception and capture—by exploring tactility, listening, intimacy, and voice technology as relational and transindividual fields. I summon bodily, sensorial, and fictional experiences to make contact with the invisible, through research, creation, and artistic collaborations.

PINK NOISE (2021) agitates the sound vibrations of the voice and words, to stimulate listening and oral imagination. It goes through a practice that focuses on the rhythm of what resonates and on the erotics of what vibrates, be it the sound of the voice, the steam coming out of the mouth, some words and their phonetics, a reverberating echo on the concave surfaces, a scream, an onomatopoeia, a sound image… or the heat of conjuring! Thus, words could lose their central place and dissolve in the holes, invoking sensory and more-than-human properties of language.
