Andrea El Ameri
I am a choreographer, dancer and teacher. I also organise movement-related events. My roots are in urban dance, my first, fun, raw, passionate love, one that I will never forget and that will always be with me. In 2018, I moved to Madrid, where contemporary dance and the performing arts-related creations began to make their appearance. For me, creative practice calls on you to marshal all your knowledge and an attentiveness and intuition that are at once highly focused yet open. I regard the body, dance and improvisation as the seed and the core of my creative processes. This process is something very personal and almost spiritual, one in which creation begins to find its own voice, and putting my body into this will undoubtedly lead me to grow and expand.

Using stage, body and movement as conduits, based on personal and autobiographical elements, Doma looks to research into the dialogue between the sexual and the grotesque as a form of rebellion and social resistance against what I call the stereotypical role of the Western woman. This desire for creation springs from the contradiction and confusion I encounter in expressing my sexuality. This process also includes a desire to protest against and anger around how sexual issues are dealt with nowadays, when, far from educating and facilitating, difficulty and confusion are created.
