Elena Zanzu

I’m interested in extreme practices and practical and theoretical research around gender, ethics, care, and research methodologies. In recent years, I’ve been part of the Circus Dialogues (continued) research project at Kask University in Belgium. I teach circus and gender at UAB. I curate various events, especially focusing on gender and dramaturgy. I write. My solo EZ, premiered at the Mercat de les Flors in May 2022 and awarded by the European platform Circusnext, addresses power dynamics and negotiation of consent. Currently, I’m immersing myself in a new research project provisionally called Project Hyp.NO.

Residency Project

Project Hyp.NO is an investigation into techniques of transit generation, perception manipulation, illusion, and extreme (psycho)somatic manipulation practices. Placing care and dialogue at the center, this research explores perception as a generator of physical, emotional, and mental movement. What needs to happen for movement to be generated?
