Eugénie Rebetez

The work of Eugénie Rebetez centres on her artistic figure, both tragicomic persona and living sculpture, which she embodies in solo creations for the stage or performances in art galleries and museums. The young Swiss artist stands out with her mix of audacity, self-mockery, ludicrousness, vulnerability and agility. The body is at the heart of her artistic approach, expressing itself completely while revealing the complexity and ambivalence of being oneself.  Eugénie Rebetez (1984) grew up in the swiss countryside. She first studied dance and choreography in the class of dance studies at the Lycée Martin V in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, then at the ArtEZ Institute of Arts in Arnhem, Holland. Following her studies, she worked notably with the Venezuelan choreographer David Zambrano, and also with the Swiss director Martin Zimmermann, with whom she continues to work on a regular basis. She has created and performed three solo shows, Gina (2010), Encore (2013) and Bienvenue (2017) as well as several performances for art galleries and museums. Her work has been presented throughout Switzerland, as well as elsewhere in Europe. Eugénie Rebetez lives in Zurich.
