Fernando Gandasegui
I am an artist, a curator and a researcher in performing arts. I’ve been part of the PLAYdramaturgia collective and have coordinated Teatro Pradillo in Madrid. I co-curated La Plaza en Verano in Matadero (Madrid) and several residency programs in institutions such as the Spanish Cultural Centre in La Paz. I teach courses and workshops in institutions like Pedagogías Invisibles or the Yola Bar at the Sâlmon Festival/ Graner, which I run with Javier Cruz. I’ve been an artist-in-residence in La Caldera, CA2M, La Casa Encendida, Malavoadora or L’Estruch. My artistic work is part of the CA2M collection and the Artists Archive of Matadero, and has been shown in La Poderosa, Festival TNT, Artium, CentroCentro, EACC, PhotoEspaña or Intermediae among others, as well as in independent venues such as POLS. I’ve coordinated communication projects for festivals like El lugar sin límites (Reina Sofia Museum – Centro Dramático Nacional) or ¿Qué puede un cuerpo? (La Casa Encendida). I’ve been published in catalogs such as Querer parecer noche (CA2M) and have written the playbills of Teatros del Canal and Conde Duque. I currently work as the co-director of Teatron (where I also publish in my blog) and I prepare the Sunday Festival for La Casa Encendida.

ABOUT THE PROJECT IN RESIDENCE:
Discourses on the future have become prominent within the most recent discussions about contemporary art. If this may be read as a sign of the neoliberal “slow cancellation of the future”, it might be that, instead of feeling deprived of it, we have been eventually released from a future that had never included us. Let’s leave the future behind and take advantage of the ephemeral nature of performing arts (for which the urgence of the present is the only horizon) in order to ask ourselves how we relate to the absence of a future within this void, which we must inhabit and perform again.
