Flavia Zaganelli

I am an Italian dance artist and performer. I started to train independently following and collaborating with international artists around Europe. I then graduated from Tanzfabrik contemporary dance school in Berlin and Smash#9. In 2018, I began creating choreographic works in collaboration with other artists, and then embarked on a more autonomous path. My research has a cross-disciplinary approach. I am interested in the synergy between art forms, hybrid creations, and collaborative processes. My works (The Game We Play; INVISIBILIA – 2021; electrica/ecosi’stɛma/ – 2023) has been presented in different theaters and festivals around Italy. My last ongoing research, Placebo Dances, was selected for Boarding Pass Plus Dance 2023 mobility grant sustained by Santarcangelo Festival and Moving in November Festival (Finland) and in 2024 I was among the shortlisted artists for FONDO – support network for emerging creativity nominated by Santarcangelo Festival.

Residency project

Placebo Dances is a broad investigation on and towards Pleasure. It is a tendency, an inclination toward a condition of openness, connection, rest, bliss and enchantment that might favour pleasure toward oneself and others so to question the situatedness of our bodies and their positioning in the world. In Placebo Dances we look for postures that are shaken by desire, that gently disrupt the bodies and make them waver, to find a closeness that makes erotic our being in the world. Pleasure is here, salvation in times of catastrophe.
