Guillem Mont de Palol

Since graduating from the SNDO (School for New Dance Development) in 2006, I have been working at the intersections of different disciplines such as dance, architecture, theater, or opera and their influence on the political and social realms. I have a strong commitment to a place that for others is transitory: Being on the edge rather than at the center of things is an ideological position. My stage practices cross languages and develop something energetic and empathetic: I use humor, absurdity, repetition, and music to bring live arts to all audiences with the intention that they leave doing the conga and repeat what they have seen later at home. Since 2009, I have been collaborating with theaters, art centers, and festivals in Europe and Latin America alongside Jorge Dutor. Together we have built our own language that some call MontdeDutor.

I am also a married man, uncle of my nephews, a Thai massage and kundalini yoga practitioner, and I try to get involved in pedagogical activities around dance, movement, and performative practices.

Residency project

Danses Romàntiques (Romantic dances) aims to investigate the relationship between music, space, body, movement, and action in the construction of meaning and the elaboration of fictions. The project takes as its axis of research the romantic ballets such as La Sílfide, Giselle, Coppelia, and Raimunda, and their music by composers such as Chopin, Delibes, Rimsky-Korsakov, music with lyrical, exotic, magical, sensual, ethereal, and mysterious airs of romanticism.
