Javier Martín

I dance. I combine choreographic and performative creation with writing, laboratory practice and conferences. From an epistemological and critical approach, I investigate in the field of movement arts, activating a library: the imagination and the body’s archive of diverse kinetic approaches. Compose textures of movement, vibrant matter, with dynamics to intervene and be conscious of the processes of subjectivation, interesting to distill as inertia accumulates in our things. Dance, as a technology of consciousness, is a way of understanding the animal that we are.

Residency project

For some time now I have been involved in the creation of a kind of somatic library, a bodily archive of various movements and kinetic approaches, which analyzes animal becoming in relation to technology, the processes of subjectivation that organize the being of bodies – their presence and semiosis – and the acts that inertia configures to proceed. Employment for this, in the form of tropes, modeling technologies, approaches and different contemporary metaphors that are used in the fields of Science and Philosophy: such as the aggregate states of matter, neuroscience and its images, psychology and its topological paradigm, anatomy and its studies on the tensegrity of property flows and attractors, meteorology…

And, of course, Art and its power to desecrate the paradigm of reality that, like a dream, we share. I am mobilized, in addition to entering into complexity, to relate the findings of these disciplines with different epistemological traditions, some minoritized, and their routes; in order to promote an alternative arrangement of the sensitive experience and accompany what it implies from the aesthetic point of view; practicing the critique that places the relevance of diversity and the consortium of technologies, philosophies and sciences.
