LXS BACANTES – a CoreoGenealogy is a choreographic research project that stems from the need to critically reread the classical tragedy The Bacchae by Eurípides from a feminist, intersectional, and decolonial perspective. In contrast to canonical interpretations that have privileged the male and hegemonic figures of the narrative, the project shifts the focus toward the peripheral existences that inhabit the work: the Bacchae—bodies and subjectivities historically relegated to the background, associated with excess, madness, or chaos. This rewriting seeks to restore agency, complexity, and political potency to what has been marginalized within the Western cultural canon.
