Bio:

The Winter Circus emerged in 1996, within the Ateneu Popular 9 Barris, with the intention of promoting the creation of stable professional circus companies and offering unique, high-quality, medium-format theater proposals. Aimed at all types of audiences, the Ateneu has been producing this show for 28 years, which is presented during December and January in its theater with approximately 8 school performances and 24 general performances.

Project in residence:

Rara avis is a Latin expression that means “rare bird.” It is used to refer to something or someone exceptional, unique, uncommon, or strange. The circus is an extraordinary realm where many singularities converge, seeking to play with the laws of physics, defy gravity, and expand the limits of what is possible. We all have aspects that make us exceptional… different. This human condition in which we are unique and irreplaceable is also what unites us as a species. In Rara avis, we celebrate rarity, singularity, and the need to be seen, integrated, and respected just as we are.
