Paloma Muñoz

Bio:

Extremaduran choreographer and dancer based in Barcelona. She has worked as a dancer with I.T.Dansa, Metros, Ramón Oller, Thomas Noone Dance, and Norrdans. She develops her choreographic work through her company SIBERIA and is a guest choreographer with international companies such as Theater Münster, Theater Bielefeld, and Ballet X Schwerin in Germany; Ballet Bern in Switzerland, and D.A.F. Dance Arts Faculty in Italy. In another realm, she engages with audiovisual projects ranging from the dance film *Empty*, edited by the platform NOWNESS, to the choreographic direction of the film *Desmontando un elefante* by Aitor Echevarria and Arcadia Films.

SIBERIA’s first creation, “La Piel Vacía”, premiered in 2018. In 2020, it entered the Swedish circuit Dancenet Sweden, and the company embarked on an international tour. In 2022, Paloma received the Bern Dance Award at the Tanzplattform Bern with “La Piel Vacía”. In March 2021, she premiered “L.E.V.E., a Light and Easy Vanishing Event”. In 2022, the piece was performed at the Mercat dels Flors and the Madrid en Dansa festival. With SIBERIA, she has produced various site-specific works (Blackpool for Caixafórum and Stone & Silk for the Castell de Montjuïc).

Project in residence:

“La Quijá” is a choreographic creation project that starts with an image: a devastated, harsh, and dry landscape, and a need: to return to the origins and the body as the engine of creation. Returning to the body, rhythm, and space, seeking poetry in bodies in motion. It is a journey inward, to the very essence, to what resides in the bones, dancing from the marrow. Returning to the body not only as an individual but as a collective, in search of a personal and shared encounter.
