Silvia Batet

Silvia Batet studied the Professional Degree in Classical Dance in Valencia and the Higher Degree in Choreography and Performance at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. She has also trained in urban dances, which allows her to combine various techniques in her physical language to address contemporary themes. In 2018, she received the prestigious danceWEB scholarship for the ImpulsTanz festival in Vienna. She founded her own company in 2019 and has created four works since then: Réquiem (2020), OBLIVION (2021), Sacrée (2024), and ERCÁS (2024), presented at national and international festivals in seven European countries. Winner of the Institut del Teatre Dance Award 2020 for her work OBLIVION, it premiered in a full-length format at the Grec Festival 2021. Sacrée (2024) is part of the Circuit of the Red de Teatros Alternativos 2024, while OBLIVION will be featured in the Danza a Escena Circuit 2025.

Residency project

This residence is part of the Mentorship Program of the Dance Impulse Plan. This program is part of the II Dance Impulse Plan 2023-2026, an initiative of the Department of Culture of the Generalitat in collaboration with the Associació de Professionals de la Dansa de Catalunya (APdC) and the Associació de Companyies de Dansa de Catalunya (APCDC). It is a professional development program that provides support and guidance in all stages of the value chain of stage creation.

Graner and La Caldera have selected two proposals from the Program to carry out a week-long residency and support them in relation to their own lines of work. In the case of Silvia Batet, a contextual residency has been designed in dialogue with two intersecting residencies that coincide in the same period and have followed the same roadmap for contextualizing the social artistic fabric, with conversations and meetings focusing on management and creation.
