SLMFV, La Cerda and Los Informalls

Las Martas, Losinformalls and Las Cerdas. Us.

We come from distant towns and cities that never sleep, where dancing lasts until dawn. We come from dancing in the streets, dancing without permission, from imagining kinder futures. From being behind and in front, inside and out. We come without haste, carving our path little by little, fighting to find our place in this city’s performing arts scene, earning first respect and then space. Us, friends above all. Three families who unite today to represent a generation of creators who have grown and evolved in this city in a contemporary way. A relevant generation, whether they like it or not. And despite all the challenges of the sector, we carry restlessness in our bones and an unrelenting desire to keep creating, contributing, and above all, dancing.

Us: Las Martas, Losinformalls and Las Cerdas.

Last project in residence

Bailar sin mis amigas no es bailar (Dancing without my friends is not dancing) is a gathering of peers, an excuse to return to the studio with the people you love most. A starting point: friendship. Three collectives that have shaped the alternative dance scene in Catalonia in recent years: Si Los Martes Fueran Viernes, La Cerda, and Los Informalls. This project is born from the desire to share our working methodologies, to cross concerns, to open up new questions and blur the boundaries between our practices — but above all, it comes from the desire to dance together. It is a commitment, a risk, a way to strengthen the community in a present where moving forward is increasingly difficult. It’s about coming together, dancing, and continuing to nourish Barcelona’s cultural fabric and its dancing people — starting from within, among ourselves, and then opening up to the wider community.

A gathering that also aims to question the dictatorship of artistic productivity. We don’t come together to produce, but to share the ways. To create fertile ground, a nurturing environment where ideas or new projects might emerge without the pressure of delivering a final product. Before creating, we must dance. And what better way to do it than with your best friends?

Dancing without my friends is not dancing is: Milagros García, Luis Fruta García, Valentina Azzati, Pere Joseph, Edward Tamayo, Johann Pérez Viera, Aina Lanas and Cuque Cao.
