ELK (2026) is the second piece in a cycle devoted to the act of performing after the age of forty, which began with Ballarina ‘04, an assertive production about the profession and the passing of time that proposes to perform itself forever. Whereas that piece reflected on persistence and stage identity, ELK delves into the fascination of being on stage after twenty-five years of continuous practice. The project explores the notion of mastery and the content that emerges after years of accumulated experience. Just as pilots measure their expertise in flight hours, ELK starts from a symbolic figure, close to 198,000 hours of performance (according to a speculative formula by Mathias Ronhorn), to position the body as a living archive, a repository of memory and stage knowledge.
