BOCA #5 invites us to listen to the conversation between Marta Echaves and Fernando Gandasegui, Graner resident artist in 2021. In the conversation, Marta and Fer delve into the body of work of the former, which spans from writing, curating, research, and performance as areas of action.
Fernando Gandasegui, resident at Graner through an open call in the research modality in 2021, is an artist, curator, and researcher in live arts. He has been part of the collective PLAYdramaturgia and has coordinated the Teatro Pradillo in Madrid. He has co-directed La Plaza al Verano de Matadero and residency and research programs at the Centro Cultural de España in La Paz. He teaches classes and workshops at different institutions such as Pedagogías Invisibles or the Bar Yola of the Sâlmon/Graner Festival, a bar he runs with Javier Cruz. He has been an artist-in-residence at La Caldera, CA2M, La Casa Encendida, Malavoadora, and L’Estruch. His artistic work is part of the CA2M Collection and the Matadero Creators’ Archive and has been presented at La Poderosa, TNT Festival, Artium, CentroCentro, EACC, PHotoEspaña, or Intermediae, among other institutions and independent spaces such as POLS. He has coordinated communication projects for festivals such as El lugar sin límites (Museo Reina Sofía-Centro Dramático Nacional) or ¿Qué puede un cuerpo? (La Casa Encendida), published catalogs like Querer parecer noche (CA2M), and written programs for Teatros del Canal or Conde Duque. He currently co-directs Teatron, where he also publishes on his blog and is the curator of the Domingo festival for La Casa Encendida.
Marta Echaves studied Philosophy at UAM and PEI at MACBA. She collaborates designing activities for the Caja Negra editorial, and she is the coordinator of Contar es escuchar, an artistic research course at La Casa Encendida. Her projects, at the crossroads of artistic practice and historiographical work, have been presented in institutions such as ARCO, MACBA, MNCARS, La Casa Encendida, Universidad Complutense, Hangar… She has collaborated in writing for catalogs and artist books and edited the essay Working Dead, escenarios del postrabajo (La Virreina Centre de la Imatge) together with María Ruido and Antonio Gómez.
