Your Body, Your Teacher (Anatomical and Somatic Experiences in the School Context)
WHAT DOES YOUR BODY SAY? HOW DOES YOUR BODY MAKE YOU ACT? WHAT’S INSIDE THE BODY?
“Your Body, Your Teacher” is born with the goal of bringing comprehensive anatomical knowledge, with an emphasis on fascial tissue, to primary school children and observing how this knowledge generates changes, both individually and in group interactions and with space. The purpose is to create a space to connect with what moves and moves us, using anatomy as a trigger for movement and questioning. These sessions aim to discover what lies beneath the skin, trying to make them experiential and three-dimensional approaches. We propose experimental somatic meetings suitable for children. These meetings will help me continue to find ways to bring body knowledge in an integral way and to add pedagogical tools for both children and teachers. In general, there is an interest in understanding how students can better manage their freedom of movement and how to create a safe space to explore and let their free and spontaneous movement emerge.
This will be the second year that this type of work is proposed at Pau Vila School, and the idea is to continue in the same line of research, deepening and expanding what was initiated in the 2021-22 school year, also within the framework of the educational programs of Graner.
Claudia Solwat:
Currently, I develop activities related to body and movement research, teaching, and creation. I accompany and facilitate creative processes as an assistant director and assistant in choreography and movement (my latest collaborations with Alexis Eupierre, Guy Nader and Maria Campos, Albert Quesada, and Pere Faura). I have danced since “forever,” moving through different styles and combining it with other types of studies (Psychology, Dance Pedagogy, Site-specific Dance, Mindfulness, and Diafreo). I have worked as a dancer for various theater and dance companies and as a creator in different stage projects. I am part of the collective MOVE ANATOMY. “Your Body, Your Teacher” is a continuation of the research “Moving Deeper” around the human body, its anatomy, and especially the discovery, deepening, and dissemination of connective tissue (the fascia).
