‘The body as an event’ with Bea Fernández – 2020-21 school year

A reflection on movement in the early childhood classroom with workshops conducted by Bea Fernández at the El Polvorí and Enric Granados schools, as well as at the Collserola, Niu d’Infants, and El Cotxet nursery schools in the Marina de Port neighbourhood.

“My impulse or imagination has been to generate spaces and situations where the unknown is implemented as a place of potentiality, focusing the observation on that innate and still unspoiled ability of the child, who is constantly experimenting through the desire to perceive, attending to absolute dispersion and making changing decisions. This is the place where the materiality of the child’s body breaks the hierarchies between bodily forms and enjoys the affective dimensions inscribed in all matter, both human and non-human. This starting point feels like a very fertile territory where any creative practice can find a place.”

Graner’s educational programme is part of Caixa d’Eines, a project promoted by the Pla de Barris of Barcelona, which brings artistic practices into the school curriculum with the aim of reducing inequalities between neighbourhoods. Graner runs its educational programme linked to Caixa d’Eines in primary and secondary schools in the Marina de Port neighbourhood.
