EN RESiDENCIA is a program of the Barcelona Institute of Culture and the Barcelona Education Consortium, devised in cooperation with the A Bao A Qu association, which brings creators to work throughout an academic year in the classroom. This work, which concludes with the presentation of a piece, in this case linked to dance and movement, intensively and significantly brings together creation, education, and mediation.

Mar Garcia, who holds a degree in Choreography and Performance from the Institut del Teatre (IT) and a degree in Psychology from the University of Valencia, and Javi Soler, who holds a degree in Orchestral Conducting from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and a Primary Education Teaching degree from the University of Valencia, form a company driven by research and stage creation around the relational and transversal possibilities between movement and sound, both as protagonists of the action. Their works are characterised by the precision of the scenic material, a specific search for connection with the audience, and the combination of technical references from contemporary composition with references belonging to their generational context and the collective imagination.

La Sedeta Secondary School is located in the grounds of the former textile factory Pujol i Casacuberta, known as La Sedeta for its silk production, which ceased activity in 1975. It was then that a strong neighbourhood movement led the City Council to expropriate the land occupied by the factory, stopping a housing development project by a banking entity, and initiating the current public facility project. In the factory grounds, which belong to Barcelona’s catalogue of historical and artistic heritage, we now find La Sedeta School, La Sedeta Secondary School (opened in 1983), and the La Sedeta Community Centre.
