‘Experiential training’ 2022-23 school year

From Graner and the Caixa d’Eines program in the Marina neighborhood, we launched a EXPERIENTIAL TRAINING project through the art of dance and body expression in the educational context. This project was born largely from the needs and desires gathered during the previous school year to create spaces of exchange—both practical and theoretical—around methodologies, systems, and experiences of working with the body and dance in classrooms, as well as to share a process of assembling and differentiating the specific vocabulary and language of dance and pedagogy. With the participation of artists, mediators, and educators. The sessions took place between March and June 2023.

The two professionals we proposed to lead the sessions were Mercè Sardà and Estefanía Morante, both with long-standing careers and more than 25 years of experience working in and dedicated to dance within formal and non-formal educational contexts. Their training project, LA DANSA EDUCA, systematized, documented, and championed creative dance practices as an educational tool. At that time, they were channeling their shared knowledge and experiences into writing a reference book: PAUSA EN MOVIMIENTO, which addressed some of the most relevant issues related to dance, childhood, and adolescence.
