Dance (your) way
“I start from the fact that what unites us is moving together, a communal creation in dance as a form of relationship. *Dance (your) way* aims to create a space of expression through dance. A space of celebration, a space where our ideas can come to life, where our bodies speak, explore their possibilities, and question the world we inhabit and the relationships we establish. From the individual to the collective and vice versa. A space that invites the encounter of one’s own movement as a form of cooperation and gift to the collective.”
Maria Ferrer:
“I have always considered movement and dance to be my first language… the place where I could be more myself than anywhere else, the place where I could have deeper encounters with myself and others. I believe in dance as a space of freedom, activism, and expression (both individual and collective); as an artistic form, a means that brings us closer to others; as an experience that allows us to explore the infinite possibilities of our multiple and diverse bodies beyond the stage, beyond territories or verbal language. Dance is a medium, an experience that connects us socially, historically, and emotionally.”
Graduated in classical and contemporary dance from the Conservatorio Profesional de Valencia, with further studies at The Place, London Contemporary Dance School. She holds a degree in Pedagogy (UB) and a postgraduate degree in Performing Arts and Social Action (Institut del Teatre). After a long stay in Berlin, she met Be Van *Vark, an activist choreographer who completely inspired her way of working with different collectives and offered her first professional experiences in this field.
Maria Ferrer is the driving force behind the *Moving!* dance project, a stage creation project through dance with young migrants (Apdc Carretera y Dansa 2022).
