PULS(ions), a project to explore the act of establishing a shared pulse and the emotions and sensations this generates in us. It will be through individual impulses and desires that we will modify this collectivity, leaving it to return to it. The flow between unison and individual improvisation will help us write a common score in which we will reflect on the feeling of belonging, what unites us, and the space that exists for difference in our society. This approach will be done through movement and in constant dialogue with visual references from the collective memory of neighborhood struggles. PULS(ions) has been carried out with 2nd-year ESO students from the Domènech i Montaner Institute, as an optional ACTIVART course.
Maria Ferrer: Graduated in classical and contemporary dance from the Professional Conservatory of Valencia and extended her studies at The Place, London Contemporary Dance School. She holds a degree in Pedagogy (UB) and a postgraduate degree in Performing Arts and Social Action (Institute of the Theater). After a stay in Berlin, she met Be Van Vark, an activist choreographer who completely inspired her way of working with different collectives and who offered her her first professional experiences in this field. As a performer, her work is structured around movement, rhythm, and improvisation. From her experience with the vernacular music and dances of Jazz, she seeks confluences between the different traditions that inform her body and nourish her movement. Since 2021, she has directed Moving!, a project of stage creation and welcoming through dance with newly arrived young people (Apdc Carretera i Dansa 2022), and she has been an artist linked to the mediation, creation, and education programs of Caixa D’eines del Pla de barris (Santiago Rusiñol School, Educatius del Graner), since 2021.
