Dance and States of Attention
Research based on the following premise: the state of our attention determines the quality of our experience. We know that the digital age is drastically transforming the phenomenon of attention, especially in children. We know that dance is an integrative artistic language in which thought, emotion, and action are shaped through our moving bodies.
Habits and bodily practices have been developed and incorporated into the class schedule to generate new states of attention and relationship. With the collaboration of Guillermo and Júlia, physical education and music teachers respectively, perseverance in research has created regular, organic, danced movement sequences that facilitate children’s expression and communication. Through imaginative practices, new movement qualities are evoked, enriching the physical movement vocabulary both individually and collectively and constituting a unique group identity.
Silvia Sant Funk: After many years dedicated to contemporary dance as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher, I am interested in the benefits of body awareness, movement, and creative work for any person, regardless of age or condition.
I am involved in projects that focus on the relationships between dance and pedagogy and dance and health. I offer training under the title “The Intelligent Body” to individuals, young people, and organizations aimed at reconnecting with their bodies and its wisdom, focusing on essential issues such as presence, communication, interpersonal relationships, and creativity. More sporadically, but equally passionately, I maintain my dedication to stage creation, developing my own works and collaborating with other creators.
