Amaranta Velarde and Marta Echaves invite us to experience a conversation from a position of horizontality. Literally lying down, we will listen to conversations and texts around technologies of the non-self, and explore possible strategies of overstimulation, imbalance and saturation which, turning in on themselves, might make abandonment and conscious presence a possible line of escape.
What range of agency does a subject have when moved by the external forces and demands of turbo-capitalism? Is it possible to practise a radical dispossession, either through natural means or with the help of synthetic prostheses? How can we find new terms and nomenclatures to define experiences of contact with other realities beyond our inertia, shaped by the rhythm of contemporary life—those that escape reason or pierce through ordinary states of consciousness?

Marta Echaves (Madrid, 1990) studied Philosophy and specialised in the Independent Studies Programme at MACBA. She coordinates activities at the publishing house Caja Negra, and works as a researcher, writer and cultural programmer. She wrote the epilogue to Raving by Mackenzie Wark (Caja Negra, 2023), and contributes to the collective book La potencia afectiva. Deseo, cuerpo y emociones (Continta me tienes, 2025). Together with María Ruido and Antonio Gómez Villar, she edited Working Dead. Escenarios del Postrabajo (Traficantes de Sueños, 2019), which includes her essay “Confiad en la Piedad Química”, the starting point for the book she will publish with Cielo Santo.
