Within the framework of the 2024 City Creation and Museums program, La Modelo and Graner initiate their first project together to build a workspace that reflects the concerns and objectives of both facilities regarding current artistic creation and the heritage of the city of Barcelona.
INAUDIT
A collaboration between choreographer and performer Adrián Vega and musician and creator Adriano Galante. The main goal of the project is to unveil a new sound heritage of La Modelo de Barcelona using a performative approach based on the building’s sonic memory, inhabited by frequencies, sounds, and radiations inaudible to the human ear. An active search that traces a new memory of sound coexisting in the building, marked by questions like: what was it?, what is it now?, and above all, what could this new sound space be? A hybrid guided tour during which unprecedented scenes, relationships, and soundscapes are generated.
- Creation and Performance: Adrián Vega, Adriano Galante.
- Theoretical Guidance: Andrea Soto Calderón.
- Movement Guidance: Marina Pravkina.
- Archive Development: Anabel de la Paz
- Dates: July 3rd and 4th, evening-night
Adrián Vega, a dancer and creator, defines his movement as post-hip-hop, a corporality built around the practice of social dances and reflected through performance. In this project, a gestuality closely related to the music heard over the years within La Modelo will be explored: electronic music, hip-hop, flamenco, and traditional music, styles already common in Adrian’s artistic career and likely experienced by many people who inhabited this building. Therefore, it is interesting to analyze the possible movements that may generate unconscious rhythms and postures due to exposure to these musical genres, starting from the radio frequencies and sounds discovered through this sound investigation. Listening to this space and its hidden frequencies will help generate new sounds and music within this deployment of movements and sequences that will sound through tap dance and percussion in the space proposed by Adrian.
Adriano Galante, a singer, musician, and writer, approaches music through the performativity of his voice and body, the presence of his instruments, and the texts that emerge from openness to processes of sound experimentation and scenic improvisation. His vision of time in music, understood as an infinite and multiple time, breaks with the usual limits of songs, creations, and performances, always aiming to build new realities, formats, and possibilities. Thus, this investigation, touched by a collectivity always present in Galante’s projects, will invite Adriano to explore the most experimental capabilities of his artistic perspective, implementing explorations of singing and voice inspired by the sounds and frequencies encountered in La Modelo’s unheard sound heritage, thus provoking the birth of new possible narratives.
After several improvisation meetings at different performative events in the city of Barcelona and having collaborated in the mutual support of their respective latest shows, Galante and Vega would sign this search-performance as a creative pair for the first time. A first step of a long-term research project by the two creators around the performative limits of the body and voice. Additionally, the creators will work together with various theoretical and practical accompaniments of their research, counting on the external perspectives of different creators and thinkers who are usual collaborators in their creative processes, such as philosopher and writer Andrea Soto Calderón, dancer Marina Pravkina, dramaturge Sara Serrano, or archivist Anabel de la Paz, among others.
