¿Y la copla?
A dance solo aimed at undressing, stripping the copla, to allow other possible figures hidden in the popular, blurred, each one read and imagined from their own imagery, to emerge. We propose a body that cannot be defined, that is constructed and dances in the present moment, to be undone again and questioned again from the folkloric and its identity.
I’m Pol Jiménez, an artist trained in Spanish and flamenco dance, always exploring new codes and questions of the contemporary stage and thought to nourish my creations. Trained in Spanish dance by the Professional Conservatory of Dance of Barcelona, whom I represented as a choreographer at the International Assembly 2013 in Toronto organized by the National Ballet School of Canada, and at the Andalusian Dance Center of Seville. I have an intense trajectory as a dancer and choreographer because since I was 18, I have been working with companies or choreographers such as la Fura dels Baus, Cesc Gelabert, Juan Carlos Lérida, José Manuel Álvarez, Ángel Rojas, or Mdvd. I am part of the music group “Los Aurora”. I premiere my productions at the Mercat de les Flors, Sala Hiroshima, and Fira Mediterrània de Manresa, winning awards such as “Best Dancer” at the 2018 Performing Arts Critics Awards and the XXV Butaca Awards. I become part of the catalogs recommended by the Spanish Theater Network. Currently on tour with my latest production “Lo faunal” and coordinating the cycles “Se avecina” in Pla Roig and “Cronexiones” in La Tacones.
