Fandango Reloaded is an archaeological investigation where dance acts as the activator of a shared ritual experience. We dance in a gesture of rewriting and memory, imagining what this dance looks like today and exploring the possibilities of bringing it back to the streets. An exploration of popular dances, we speculate whether urban dances could now play the role that traditional dances once did, as mechanisms of collectivity and community. A blending of vocabularies, both traditional and urban dance, in an exercise of rematerializing memory.
My name is Inka, and I am a dancer. The ideas that shape the way I move are the archive, the margins, and repetition. My first connection with the archive was through YouTube, where I copied choreographies from the music videos of my favorite artists, and even today, it remains a key tool in my creative process. I would memorize titles and names of pieces. I started dancing flamenco as a child. Later, I continued contemporary dance training at the conservatory, but I was never satisfied with the academic approach and always sought answers elsewhere, especially in urban dances, more underground practices, or those that exist on the periphery or margins. I practice and learn breaking, electro, vogue, and other styles.
