The second edition of Moujuïc (September 17th and 18th, 2022) aimed to become an essential event to bring dance and culture to the public, with a high-quality program that provided an overview of movement language in the unique setting of Montjuïc Castle. Across two sessions, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, the Castle hosted different pieces each day from 5 pm to 9 pm, offering the opportunity to experience them outside conventional spaces, curated in collaboration with Graner.
On September 17th, the program featured “AM-27” by Javier Guerrero, an exploration of utopian projects that won the Dance Award from the Institut del Teatre; “The Grooves Experience,” Marina Pravkina’s debut focusing on clubbing, electronic music, and movement language; and “City Horses,” an urban choreography by the Swedish company Byström Källblad, with twelve female dancers reflecting on power, images of the female body, and public space.
On September 18th, the lineup included Métrica bárbara and their show “De una en una {versos sobre un tejado errante},” a combination of theater, dance, and objects with three performers and forty-seven ancient tiles on stage; “Oblivion” by Silvia Batet, a hypnotic piece based on the repetition of circles that speaks about forgetting and longing; and “Aclucalls” by the young company laSADCUM, an explosion of group movement portraying a grotesque portrait of post-internet society and generation. Also on Sunday, Camaralucida, an artist in residence at Montjuïc Castle, presented “Estadio” as part of their research process in the former barracks.
