FLUXONOMY 4D (2018-20)

The Fluxonomy 4D Project was a learning and innovation community focused on the circular economy and management models, with the goal of prototyping a methodology to measure qualitative indicators. Graner participated by inviting Lala Deheinzelin to lead the formation of a group that progressively grew to include up to 14 Ibero-American cultural initiatives of diverse natures, including creation spaces, cultural centers, festivals, and independent projects/agents from Spain, Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Bolivia, and Cuba.

Artistic and cultural production generates values that generally escape economic quantification. It is necessary to develop new metrics that allow us to understand, analyze, and highlight this intangible wealth. In various ways—from artists themselves to cultural managers and institutions—a growing awareness of this issue is emerging. This conversation involves individuals, collectives, and institutional representatives who are attempting to develop and implement new policies and approaches to assess the contribution of culture to society.

Graner and its entire team participated consistently in an online and in-person training program in Fluxonomy 4D, using the methodology for the center’s self-analysis, and promoted and took part in several specific actions to deepen their engagement with the methodology.

Some specific actions within the Fluxonomy 4D project, beyond the ongoing training:

  • PEA at the DNA Festival (Pamplona, 2018): 4D Economy and Fluxonomy Laboratory with Lala Deheinzelin (DNA Festival 2018). The PEA (Artistic Expansion Program) organized the event “Laboratory of Constituent Practices in 4D Economy with Lala Deheinzelin and Fernando García,” a practical-theoretical gathering aimed at prototyping concrete applications of the 4D economy, hosted by the DNA Festival in Pamplona.
  • BASAR OBERT #1 (2019) at Graner: Curatorship of the Basar Obert #1 program, which included a Fluxonomy session: Introduction to Fluxonomy 4D applied to cultural spaces and projects. A dialogue between futurism and new economies in four dimensions led by Fernando García (director of Espacio Cultural mARTadero – Cochabamba, Bolivia).
  • Management Residency in Cochabamba (Bolivia, 2019): Graner took part in the 4D Fluxonomic Metric Unit Management Residency in Cochabamba from July 4 to 9, 2019. The event was organized by Fundación Imagen and Proyecto mARTadero, with the collaboration of Acción Cultural Española and the support of Teatro de la Abadía, L’Artesà, the SÂLMON< Festival, Teatre Principal de Palma, Circuito de Centros Culturales de Cochabamba, Universidad Mayor de San Simón, and Boliviana de Aviación.
  • Fluxonomy Meeting at CCCC Carme (Valencia, 2019): From November 14 to 21, Graner participated in the Fluxonomy and 4D Economy Meeting alongside various cultural structures, spaces, and agents to work on the four dimensions—cultural, social, environmental, and financial—with the aim of expanding their projects through principles such as transmission, exponentiality, interdependence, and transformation. The meeting continued Graner’s training in new management models with Lala Deheinzelin and was hosted by the Centre del Carme Cultura Contemporània.
  • FARO Management Residency at FITT (2020): Graner participated in the FARO learning community’s management residency, part of the 2020 Ibero-American Theater Festival of Cádiz, from Monday, November 2 to Thursday, November 5. FARO is a learning community of Ibero-American cultural agents that, since 2018, has been joining forces for broader, more effective, and more innovative socio-cultural action. FARO uses Fluxonomy as an innovation methodology within its own practices.
