The FID (Window for the Internationalization of Catalan Dance) was an executive working group created in 2011 by the sector, both organized and independent, the key institutions, and public administrations. This working group met periodically to design the operational logics and methodologies of this event, which took place in July in Barcelona, within the framework of the International Performing Arts Meeting (IPAM) as part of the Grec Festival of Barcelona. Its objective was to devise mechanisms for the internationalization of Catalan dance and, with an inclusive approach, for artists belonging to other realities and contexts. IPAM_Dansa was a platform for co-production and exhibition aimed at artists with feasible projects for the next two seasons and at national, state, and international programmers. With IPAM_Dansa, the intention was to create a context of trust that would enable international co-production and foster dialogue and knowledge exchange.
The 2014 edition of IPAM_DANSA took place in Barcelona from July 8th to 10th, lasting two and a half days, where independent curators, artists, distributors, and directors of creative centers, artistic venues, and/or festivals gathered within the framework of the Grec Festival. The 2014 edition focused on works from Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, and Chile. Each of these countries established their participation in different ways, as the contexts and realities were diverse and varied. The selection of the proposals emerged from prior work between the dance coordinators of each country and local festivals, reference structures, and/or independent curators.
