Graner and materia leve maintain an ongoing dialogue linked to the Graner program Coreografies Elèctriques and the mode of research residency in the scenic space. As a result of this dialogue, we invite Carolina Campos and Leticia Skrycky in 2025 to carry out a laboratory to open their research and training project in scenic lighting to the local community.
A meeting led by Carolina Campos and Leticia Skrycky to collectivize ways of doing-thinking developed in materia leve, a research and training project on stage lighting based in Lisbon.
Starting from the idea that pieces are, above all, an invitation to a particular situation of attention, materia leve understands scenic spaces as ephemeral architectures that connect diverse materialities and invite singular ways of seeing and listening, of collectively inhabiting a place and a duration. We propose approaching these theatrical spaces as performative gestures that suggest directions and meanings, whose performativity is embedded in the dramaturgy that organizes the entire piece. From this perspective, we ask ourselves how lighting collaborates with the other materials and dimensions of the scenic event.
In this workshop, we will experiment with exercises in attention, observation, and writing about both scenic and everyday situations, as well as improvisation with luminous materials. We will use the practice of lighting and the performativity of light as a tool to explore questions about creation in the performing arts.
