Natalia Fernandes will share her working methodology at Graner next April through a laboratory to kick off her residency with the professional community. We are looking for a group of up to 18 people who wish to participate in the “INVENTED ANATOMY” laboratory, which will take place at Graner from April 10th to 12th, 2024 (10 am to 2 pm). The group will be formed through this call, and a selection will be made from all the applications received.
Invented Anatomy, or how to have a dancer’s body
As part of her residency in Graner’s Practical Methodologies, Natalia Fernandes is opening this laboratory to kick off her residency with the professional community. She will present and share the most important pillars of Invented Anatomy practice—sweat and thought. Dancing as an intellectual exercise / Thinking as a physical practice.
In the laboratory sessions, with the practice of Invented Anatomy, we will explore the body as discourse—combining mechanics and imagination as parts of the anatomical study. We will move our butts and our discourse. We will shake the flesh and the word. Together, we will explore physical and choreographic discourses, paying attention to the “inventions” of the dancing body and the body observing the dance.
Natalia Fernandes
Natalia Fernandes is a Brazilian performer and creator based in Spain since 2017. Her dance training spans both the university context and the contemporary scene in São Paulo. In addition, she has experience working with various choreographers and has taught in different countries.
