Workshop by Kha Villanueva / PORNOTOPÍAcollective

Kha Villanueva and the PORNOTOPÍAcollective are proposing a laboratory context that will take place on Saturday, March 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at El Graner, as part of their creative residency at the center, in dialogue with Antic Teatre.

The call is open to travestis, non-binary people, and dissident femininities with some experience in body-based work. The invitation is to a free 3-hour workshop space to explore, through performance, the place given to the travesti, the violence they experience, and to put into practice collective resistance strategies. The lab focuses on the exploration of femininities and is also open to dissident/trans/nb masculinities interested in this line of exploration. The laboratory is part of the creation process of the piece g0-g0, directed by Kha Villanueva from PORNOTOPÍAcollective. In residence at Antic Teatre and El Graner.

Practical informations:

  • Date: Saturday 11/03/23 from 11 am to 2 pm
  • Place: Graner, centre de creació de dansa i arts vives (c/Jane Addams 14, 08038 Bcn) Com arribar-hi
  • Free registration at pornotopialab@gmail.com

g0-g0 is a travestied conspiracy brought to the stage, a testing ground where power dynamics that affect us are twisted and subverted — a collective exercise to reclaim our bodies, an urgent call to give space to our travestied desires and to question who is watching. We use and subvert the power granted by the theatrical device to collectively live through a simulation of alternative ways of distributing and circulating power.

Bio Kha Villanueva:

Travestied non-binary femininity, actress, performance artist, and stage creator. Group psychologist with a transfeminist and antiracist perspective. Their work centers on the exploration of the collective psyche through performance and the stage as a tool for individual and social transformation, focusing on travestied and dissident corporealities.

They have worked on collective and solo creative processes since 2018: Dispositivo de encuentro con (2018), a solo research project in residence at NunArt., PORNOTOPIA (2020), a performance-installation exploring the relationship between identity and spatiality, questioning how to create cracks in normativity so that bodies can mutate, and investigating choreography’s potential to overflow the audience-stage binary. Developed within the USF creative factory in Bergen (Norway), HAMBRE (2020), an audiovisual piece on travesti affectivity, H(X)ME (lajaula) (2022), a stage piece developed with the SUTURA collective of young non-binary artists, addressing domestic violence experiences.

Kha has developed their stage career alongside artists such as Tamara Cubas, Marcela Levi, Lucía Russo, Olga Álvarez, and Jordi Cabestany, among others. They hold a degree in Psychology from the UAB and a postgraduate degree in Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama from the UB. They have extensive experience working with diverse groups at risk of social exclusion.
