The Choreographed Walks of Heliofilia are artistic recreations of the outings of Els Amics del Sol to the beaches of the Barcelona coastline. Heliofilia takes us today to the places where Els Amics del Sol used to gather to escape the urban environment. Through the outings they organized to the beaches along the Barcelona coast, they put their bodies directly in contact with nature and, especially, with the Sun. The Choreographed Walks of Heliofilia are artistic recreations of those beach outings. Each walk will start at 10:00 a.m., at a metro stop, in the same way that Els Amics del Sol used public transportation before their walks. Most of them were members of the sports and hiking sections of the Ateneu Enciclopèdic Popular. On the beaches, they performed dance and gymnastics exercises inspired by the works of Isadora and Raymond Duncan, and after lunch, they would gather in a circle to hold a self-taught conversation on topics that concerned them. In 1934, they self-published the book Heliofilia.
